I am sure you have seen her beautiful table runners, Christmas stockings, pillows and
other wonderful creations in magazines, blogs and the book Romantic Prairie Style.
In addition to Laurie’s textile designs she also offers many vintage items in her shop such as this zinc watering can.
Below are some of Laurie’s accomplishments and how she began her business.
“I am the owner of Antique Lifestyle, and a California native. I was born with the “creative gene.” When I was not yet 5 years old, I created faux model rooms inside cardboard shoeboxes. I would spend hours embellishing or painting the “walls” with magazine cutouts, making curtains from fabric scraps, and furniture from tiny cardboard boxes.
For years I’ve passionately renovated three of my homes and made them come to life. In 2007, I began Antiquelifestyle, an in-home successful design service. Some of my favorite projects were a 1935 built cottage in Sherman Oaks CA, a beach house in Ventura CA, and an expansive home in Westlake Village CA. Each one, as with others, presented totally different challenges along with typical budget concerns. I go beyond selecting fabrics and paint colors. What I hope to achieve for all my clients is to make interiors unique to them. I incorporate pieces with soul – either vintage or antique items you won’t see everywhere – as well as items I personally design.
I have merged my talent into becoming a successful textile designer as well. I built a brand of vintage collectables and textiles which are featured on my Etsy shop (started in 2010). The business has opened the door to many opportunities I would not have otherwise known; including the honor of being featured in a few magazines. .
