A blog about decorating a home beautifully on a budget

Home Tours & Open House Party

April 23, 2012 By Sherry

The annual Richmond Homearama is being held in our neighborhood
this year with eight decorated homes to tour.  Seven of the new homes sold
before the Homearama opened to the public and we were told they went
under contract for the full asking price.   Hopefully,  the housing market
is coming out of its slump…keeping our fingers crossed!
Enjoy the tour…..
House #1
Dark wall colors seemed to be the trend in many of these homes.
House #2
Our son and DIL have these chairs from World Market in their breakfast room.
Several of the designers used these same chairs in the homes.
The coffer ceiling and walls painted the same color makes the room
appear larger.
This is a close up picture of coffee tables I liked at $625 each.  I am
thinking building with pallets for the same look.
Check back for Part II of the tour.
** The Open House Party will be back starting on the evening of May 2nd. **
I have missed seeing all your wonderful
links and hope to see you there.
Hugs,  Sherry

Beautiful homes/rooms! We see a lot of the darker wall colors here, too. As a matter of fact I painted our media room a nice cocoa brown. I LOVE those coffee tables and I can see you building one yourself. xo Diana

Beautiful homes and I love those chairs! It's funny how the model homes are showing darker walls these days yet bloggers seem to be lightening up. Thanks for showing the house tours!

Sherry, I can't wait to see your table made from pallets! I just know it will be as good or not better than the 650 dollar one in the photo.
I have noticed that gray or gray blues walls seem to be a trend. I think it looks very pretty. I think I would grow tired of it pretty fast though.

I love seeing the Home-a-Rama houses! I just saw that headboard bird fabric earlier today. Not sure it's something I'd use, but it was an interesting choice.

    Hi Sherry,
Sure hope you are right about the housing market!
The dark colors on the walls is a nice change from all of the white everywhere.
I like the dining rooms – not all formal but still lovely.
    Have a great week

Wow….7 of them sold!!!??? that's good! I am a party pooper here. Not sure about all the darkness in these rooms. Wonder how it works on a gloomy day? And I like a little gray but not a whole room in gray. And your house is decorated better than any of those! 🙂 xo

    Thanks for sharing your photos!

I had to do a double take when I saw my Bee Art design on that gray pillow. But I see that I did sell the digital art file for personal use only. I guess that was personal.
