A Tribute For An Amazing Woman

Sara passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday.

My mother-in-law was an amazing woman with an extremely generous heart.   You could normally find her volunteering and helping raise money for many organizations.  For years Sara served on the executive board for the Mental Health Facility and helped raise so much money for their new building that they named the building in her honor. The patients at the Mental Health Facility liked seeing her show up with homemade food and desserts and she loved volunteering there.  The Elks Club Scholarship Fund and the American Legion were also lucky to have her on their boards and she did volunteer work at both of these organizations as well as many others.

Sara worked as Business Manager for the Alabama State Library System for 28 years while raising her four children.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother in law. The first time I met her she welcomed me with open arms and instantly made me part of her family.  Sara became the mother I always wanted, and never had. and I love her dearly.

You would never find anyone with more friends than my mother-in-law had.  Every since she became ill there has been a constant stream of friends calling and visiting.  It’s wonderful to know that so many people loved and cared about her.

I am blessed to have had this incredibly caring, loving woman in my life for the last 32 years and she will be missed every single day.

Please keep my husband and his family in your prayers.

xx,
Sherry

  5. i'm so sorry for your loss, Sherry. This is a loving tribute to Sara. It brought tears to my eyes as I was very close to my own mother in law and it left a big space in my life and heart when we lost her. I think your mother in law meant a lot to many people since she was so inspiring in all she did and juggled while raising a family. Women like her are champions.

Sending much love and a big healing hug.
