Basket Love & A Winner

I have always loved baskets, especially vintage one.  There is something about the texture
of rattan, willow and wicker that I absolutely adore.  Not only are baskets decorative but
also great for storing things.
I have collected quite a few baskets over the years and I thought I would share
some of those with you.

The two below are my newest additions.  These two identical baskets were found on the same
day at different estate sales.  They now hold some of my demijohns.

As you can see this vignette get changed around quite often.

One of my favorite baskets is this vintage cart.  I had to climb over a
pile of lawn mowers, tools and junk to get this cutie.

Baskets help keep me organized in my home office.

I use my vintage laundry basket a lot!
You  know my love for wicker covered demijohns
The bee skep is technically not a basket but I love the texture.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my collection.  I never pay much
for my baskets. Most of them are from thrift stores, estate sales, auctions and
antique malls.  I don’t normally go looking for them….they just seem to find me!
Below is my dream basket from the movie It’s Complicated.
I am on a quest to find this basket style table.
I can just hear hubby sighing now!

  9. Wow! All those pictures knocked my socks off! I adore french looking baskets. I love all your demijohns too. I never knew you had so many especially in such a large size. Wow! You're so lucky. You have so many accessories that I covet. You did a great job displaying them. BTW, I have that same brown garden finial looking thing (sorry, I don't know what it's called) that you have on the table next to your armillary. Mine is in my kitchen on top of my black armoire.

  10. I am in love with your basket collection. I didn't realize how much I loved baskets until I saw yours!! I mentioned your blog in my post on homemade chalk paint. http://cedarhillranch.blogspot.com/2011/10/homemade-chalk-paint-and-cautionary.html
I know you said you got some nasty comments, but so far, I haven't gotten any. (But my blog doesn't have the large readership yours does. It does cover my mishaps, but final success. I am trying calcium carbonate next time. Sorry for the rambling.

  11. Sherry, thank you for the tour of your basket collection~ You don't need to convince me, I also love the look of any kind of vintage basket! glad to see the clear jar found a nice place; everything looks just perfect….

  12. Oh my heavens, Sherry.

Love the mirror and the table with baluster legs! Your demijohn collection is great, love the deep greens.

    Your basket collection is wonderful.

I somehow missed that large hamper type basket from It's Complicated and I just watched it again over the weekend! Have never seen anything like it.

Thanks for showing us your cool things. 🙂

  13. I love your baskets and the way you use them. It makes me regret all the baskets I left behind when I sold my upstate New York home for SW Florida. Fortunatey, I saved a few of the older ones. Maybe I will just have to start collecting again. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Best…Victoria

  14. Wowzers! You have quite a collection. They're beautiful. I love the tall thin basket in the second photo. I'm on the hunt for one like that.
I bought my first wicker covered demijohn at a flea market today! I also have several of the large wine jugs that you have. I have a 35 ltr green one and 2-15 ltr clear jugs. I saw about 20 at the flea market today and was sorely tempted, but held myself back.

  15. Oh you do have some gorgeous baskets Sherry. I am a basket nut too. I'm always finding one I can't live without.
If you do ever find the one in the last photo, I'll flip you for it 🙂
    hugs from here…

  16. Sherry,
I love your baskets. I too can't resist a great basket when I find one. I especially like your baskets with words on them…they look antique, are they?

  17. Sherry, I'm "losing it". I wrote a comment yesterday and somehow managed to lose it. So in case you get two comments, you'll know why. I keep going back to look at your awesome basket collection. I, too LOVE baskets, especially hampers with lids. Also, just about anything made of wicker, so you know I'm droolig over your collection. Great shopping cart with the foxgloves. LOVE IT!!
Hope your're having a great Sunday,
    Babs

  18. Sherry, I am a confessed basket-a-holic, too. In fact, when Debbie (Confessions of a Plate Addict)and I go thrifting, I have to ask her to hold me accountable! I agree, through, that long basket table is fabulous! Oh, my mirror that you have commented on came from HobLob a few years ago. Thanks for noticing. Linda
