I’ve Been Busy, Part 2

Hello everyone!  I hope you are having a great day.  I have spent the last couple of weeks trying to get through my long list of projects and get ready for a party I am hosting. There is nothing like having a party at my home to get me motivated to finish all my little projects.

The first thing I tackled was this cute little iron footstool that I purchased at a thrift shop.  It was already painted white so all I did was reupholster the top. Here is the before picture.

And here is the after.
Using blue tape I painted the stripes on the burlap to give it somewhat of the effect of a grain sack.  I love that the color goes so well with my rug and the furniture in this room.
This mirror is a Craigslist find.  It was a pretty mirror in the gold finish but didn’t really go with the room.  I painted it with leftover pale gray paint, dry brushed with a little off-white and then lightly distressed.
So much better!  The mirror now has a new home in our living room. The plates on the wall were an Ebay purchase several years ago.
I love the detail.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I always love hearing from you!

  1. Hi Sherry!
Wow girl, I'm loving that mirror big time!!!Turned out really nice and makes a big statement.

I had a little stool like that and sold it in my booth. I was going to ask you where you got the grain sack material and then read how you did it. What a great idea, looks wonderful with the rug.

I hope your party goes well.

    hugs

  2. You did an amazing job on that mirror and love the foot stool. I'm still up to my eyeballs in cleaning out closets, etc. so the contractors can come in and replace ceiling, paint, re-carpet, etc. so no new projects for me in the foreseeable future, unless I can count cleaning!

Thanks so much for showing us how you can take something that doens't fit and make it work with the trick of paint! 🙂 I so understand the busy busy busy these days. I don't know where I am half the time! LOL! But I do appreciate that even though you're busy you take the time to leave comments on Color Outside the Lines! 12. Sherry,
YOur project turned out to be such gems! Both beautifully done and so chic.
The burlap is perfect for that little stool and the detail on the mirror so much more noticeable with the warm white paint.

  15. Hi Sherry,
What amazing transformations! Love the little footstool w/ the burlap & stripes…..did you use a special kind of paint for that or just craft paint?

    That mirror is stunning…..love it!

  16. Love the footstool!!!!

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog!

The water color paper is from Michael's. You can get an entire pad of paper for 9.00… I just trim it to fit my printer.:)

Hope you have a wonderful party!

  17. Sherry that mirror turned out so stunning! I LOVE it! I have that little footstool too. I recovered it once, but it needs it again. You have almost motivated me to do it. I love yours.
It is always wonderful to come over and get inspiration here!!!

  18. Love the mirror transformation and the stool looks wonderful. Guess what…I have the same stool that I also found at a thrift shop but I repurposed mine as something other than a foot stool and then repurposed it to a thrid use. When I do my post on it I will link back to your post to give the full range of possibilities. Sure wish I could find a mirror as fabulous as yours!

  19. Sherry, I know exactly what you mean when you say you've got to finish up a bunch of projects in time for a party. It seems I get most things done around here when I know I've got a crown coming over! Great motivation it is!

Love the fabric on the footstool…what a HUGE improvement. The mirror is breathtaking. I like it either way but agree the white is stunning on your living room wall. Cute blue plates too…they look like they've got a French saying??? Really pretty!

  20. I am so behind on my commenting, but I wanted let you know how incredibly impressed I am with your stunning mirror!! Absolutely fabulous!! LOVE it!! Great job – now be careful because I might need to steal that beauty!! Really fabulous job!!

  21. Both turned out gorgeous. I LOVE that burlap footstool. I'm so happy you appreciate the detail that went into that mirror. I tend to go for more simple lines and love it when someone goes for the ornate…someone worked pretty darn hard on carving those flowers, etc. I love the new finish.

Thanks for stopping by & commenting on my blog, Sherry!

(P.S. We need to see more of that rug…gorgeous colors!)

  22. It is motivating for me to have company and or have a party to get things done too. Your stool is fantastic…I just love how versatile burlap is. So glad you found my giveaway and entered….it ends next week Wednesday….

  23. When you throw a party, you do it in grand style. All these things you redid are fablous. I am sure your entire home looks just like that. You do good work.

  24. I love what you did with the footstool. I have one to cover and hadn't thought of burlap but that would go well with my livingroom as I start it's transformation. I also have a gold mirror that could use white paint. Thanks for the inspiration.

  25. Great little footstool, and the mirror is exquisite. I've been away from my computer so am spending some time scrolling through some previous posts I've missed. Your son's home is truly special. Thank you for sharing the photos. ~ Sarah

    Thanks so much…

I am so in love with that mirror, I don't know what to do. You did an awesome job on it.
