New Upholstery

I hope you are enjoying the first days of Fall.

I am loving all the beautiful Fall Home Tours on blogs now.

Do you remember months ago where I posted that the upholstery on my favorite French chairs
was ruined?  Well,  I ran into quite a few obstacles but they are finally recovered.

These chairs are in our eat-in kitchen and they get lots of use (and sometimes spills).  I loved the original blue and white buffalo check and had the top of the chairs reupholstered  in the same fabric.  The seats are done in a heavy white marine vinyl that can be easily maintained.  Luckily,  the tiny blue and white stripped fabric on the back of the chairs was not damaged so it was left.

Upholstery is not cheap!

I searched on-line for an upholsterer and emailed pictures of the chairs for a quote.  I was amazed at the big differences in quotes I received.  Luckily, I found a sweet elderly husband and wife team that now only work part-time.  They did an amazing job and charged me half of what the lowest quote was!   I am now looking for fabric for them to cover two chair cushions.  Send me an email if you live in the Orlando/Clermont area and need a good upholsterer.

I am headed to Target to buy Scotch Guard which hopefully with save the chairs from future spills.

Thanks for dropping by.

Hugs,
Sherry

  1. Sherry, what a great idea to use marine vinyl! You are such a great decorator, I love the checks and the white. I will certainly keep your upholsterer in mind! I know, it is soooo expensive. You were smart to shop around!

  2. So so pretty, Sherry. I want to get two slipper chairs for the ends of our harvest table but I worry about spills, too. I think we can wing it with Scotch Guard…you only live once! 🙂

  3. Hey Sherry, yes, I do remember that post and was sick for you. But you know what? Those turned out great! Now, the worst thing that'll need replacing is the gimp. Lemonade from lemons, bravo.
Seems the best upholsterers are the old-timers. I had my chaise lounge done by a woman who is now 91 years young. You should've seen her working on her knees for hours…on my tile floor!

  4. Looks great! I just went through the quote process with chairs. Some charge enough to buy new furniture. I found an older man who only charged by the yardage he used. Never heard of that before…but I was glad I found him best prices around! And my chairs look perfect. Good idea your using vinyl on seats! Sheila

  5. Sherry, such French Country flair on your beautiful blue and white buffalo check chairs! What a charming kitchen, complete with the cutest crockery and plate display!

    Happy Wednesday!
