Now What? Removing the clutter?

Christmas is over, the guest are gone, the prime rib has all been eaten and I am taking down the last of the decorations.  It was a wonderful holiday but once it is over I am soooo ready to get the tree and all signs of Christmas out of the house.   There is something that feels really good about removing the clutter and giving the house a thorough cleaning.

As bloggers most of us start decorating our homes really early.  Christmas home tours started the end of November this year!  We spend so much time decking our halls, posting about our decorating progress,  joining blog parties and sharing recipes that I can’t help but wonder with the holidays over Now What?  What do we write about now and how do we top our Christmas post?

I do have exciting news to share.  You may remember the Open House weekly blog party I once hosted and put on hold when we moved to take care of dad.  I will be joining a wonderful group of bloggers in hosting a brand new party each week. We are still working out the details but hope to have it up by the middle of January. I’ll be back soon with more info.

Now What?  My hopes in 2015 are that this little blog can help spark some new ideas, promote creativity and give you an occasional giggle.

Thanks so much for dropping by.
Hugs,

Sherry

  1. I still have my decorations up but I don't mind since I didn't go overboard this year. I will be taking things down in the next day or so. Looking forward to getting more details about the Open House party starting next year! Hope you had a great Christmas in your new home.

  2. oh Sherry, I agree, this is like the dry desert of blogging. It takes a while to get some inspiration for decorating after all the excess and over abundance of the Holidays. I really like the pared down feel after Christmas. I'm looking forward to getting things rolling with the new party. Glad you're letting people know about it.

  3. Oh, I wondered what happened to your weekly parties, yours were one of the first I joined. I figured it was your move here to Florida that put it on hold.
I don't think we can top Christmas posts, but I do believe we can still share many wonderful things we create and find joy in. These are the most precious.

  4. Here's an idea I wish you would use: I have no talent for hosting blog parties, but if I did…I would host a party where each blogger could show an item or room they proposed to makeover that week and how they completed the one from the week before: Like, "I'm going to paint this dresser for next week's party and here is the lamp I finished from last week's party." Sort of giving everyone a place express and meet their goals.

  5. Looking forward to your news of your plans for collaboration, Sharon. You stopped your party shortly after I joined in the fun as a relatively new blogger, but I enjoyed it while it was active. I'm UNdecorating also. Between my booth spaces and home, I am tired of moving things – big and small. We've done well these past couple months, selling some big items, but it meant big moves each time – not necessarily the best timing, lol. Happy New Year.

  6. I am looking forward to your new party but I am saddened to hear that you already took down your Christmas decorations!!
It is not even New Year's and the Holiday is packed up and put away!!
Here many people keep up their Christmas decorations until the Feast of the 3 Kings or Epiphany. That is also when the Catholic church deems that the Christmas season is over. It is also when the 12 days of Christmas end…..

I decorate for Winter and Valentine's Day when I finish taking my decorations down by the end of Jan.

Looking forward to the new party!!

  7. Hi Sherry,
Happy 2015! I was late decorating this year and so decorations are still up here. It's so much more fun to put them up. Taking them down makes me a little sad but I am looking forward to a bright new year. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
All the best to you and yours,

  8. Dear Sherry – I'm so happy you'll be back! I always particularly enjoyed your party. Happy New Year to you as you continue settling into your new home.
    Blessings,

  9. Hi Sherry,
I just got my Christmas decorations down today…the house does look so much bigger…a little empty but that's okay. I'm excited to hear about your new blogging group. Looking forward to that. Happy New Year Sherry. I hope your year is filled with many blessings.

  10. I feel the same way, it's good to declutter after Christmas. Instead of decorating, I'm getting stains and things off of carpet in this house at the moment! Fun stuff. I do have to get a start on two boy bedroom redos! Can't wait to see what people share at the parties!
