Open House Party Beach House Tour – Santa Rosa Sound, Orlando

Welcome to the Open House Party!
You will find the link to join the party at the bottom of this post.
We got home from the beach late last night.  It was a great week spent with family and it gave us a chance to get some things done around the beach house.  We have decided to put the home on the market for sale.  Many of you know we are trying to sell our Richmond home so we can move to Orlando to be closer to family.  It is just not practical for us to have a beach home that is so far away.  Once settled in Orlando we may look for a condo or another home on the beach that is within a couple hours drive.
For this weeks party I am featuring our Florida beach home.
Enjoy!
Front Porch

View of Gulf from front porch.  There is a paved bike/walking trail shown in front of the home.
Tile floors that resemble distressed wood planks

I know you are wondering why the coffee table is sooo far from the sofa.  This picture was taken before we moved out for insurance purposes.  I didn’t even bother to shut the pantry!
Kitchen with custom cabinets, granite and tile counter tops.

Antique French shutters
.
Guest bath with vanity we made from old dresser.
View from Master Bedroom
Master Bath with antique tub.
I have to brag on Steve because he made the chairs and potting bench after I saw similar ones in a local shop.  I came home one day to a pile of lumber and that’s when he told me he was going to “try” to build these for me.   We didn’t even own a saw then and building furniture was completely outside his comfort zone.  These pieces are ten years old and still study as can be.  I think Steve did a great job…though he never built anything else after this!
Back porch views of Santa Rosa Sound.
The house is now vacant so there are no longer plants in the pots.  I made the sign many years ago from a board washed up on the beach.
Here is the real reason you buy a beach house!
The beach…
The Florida Panhandle is known for the sugar white sand and beautiful clear blue water.  These photos were taken just yesterday.
I know the power of blogging so please bear with me while I give you info in the hopes that someone might be looking for a beach home to buy.
Our home is located on the small island of Navarre Beach in the Northern Florida Panhandle. Navarre is situated between Pensacola Beach and Ft. Walton Beach.  It is approximately a twenty minute drive to Destin and less than ten minutes to Pensacola Beach .  The beach is approximately 200 feet from the front door and the back of the home offers wonderful views of Santa Rosa Sound.  There is approximately 2200 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths.  With minor alterations a children’s bunk room could be added.  We are selling it partially furnished and we would consider owner financing or us holding a 2nd mortgage.
Here is the hard part for us…
The home was valued at  One Million dollars six years ago but with the housing market in Florida we are offering it now for $425,000!  Can you hear me hyperventilating?  The only consolation is we can probably buy a home in Orlando at a discounted price.  If you know of anyone looking for a Florida beach home please send them our way.

  1. Sherry, What a great beach house and a great location too. How fabulous is that view? Your decor is perfect and I wish I were in the market for a beach house but unfortunately not, however I'll keep your info handy in case I hear of someone.
I'll say a prayer for you to be able to sell it at your asking price…or higher. Bidding war maybe? I'm optomistic.
    Hugs,
    Babs

  2. I know exactly what you are going through Sherry with the whole home selling thing. We finally have a good realtor and are talking to some people. Fingers crossed! My house was worth almost $200,000.00 more {remember this is Long Island} 5-6 years ago than what we have it listed for now, before the bust. I wish you much luck and hope that you sell quickly.

The house is just gorgeous! It has a very cool feeling inside, which is probably great for being near a beach and in Florida.

  3. It's so heart breaking that you have to sell at such a reduced price. And what a beautiful home. Something that lovely would sell for about $3-4 million on my Beach. I think we are due for a price correction here in Australia as well. We are actually in one but it has only been about 5-10%.

I guess your reward will be being closer to the family and after all, that is definately more important than any old house.

Best of luck and thanks for hosting.

  4. Oh my goodness Sherry that's a real hit in the pocketbook! Yes the plus side is that it hit hard pretty much all over so hopefully an equal across the board thing *fingers crossed*
I don't think I'd ever want to sell that house!! And if I had 400k sitting around I'd sure love to buy it!! That beach is amazing!! I live only a block from the beach but "beach" around here equals lots of rocks and very little sand. Your beach is dreamy!! And your hubby did a great job! Kudos to him!

Thanks again for hosting this party my friend. I don't think you'll have to worry much about selling….It's really gorgeous! Vanna

  5. Beautiful home, Sherry. I spent a week in Destin a few summers ago. This is a lovely area. It was my first visit to the Florida Gulf. The beaches are gorgeous. Certainly not like the Texas Gulf beaches. 😉

  6. Sherry, Your vacation home is beautiful. The real estate market did take a huge hit on the gulf coast. I'm glad you have a house to sell rather than a condo. This house with beach views at that price, I'll be shocked if its not sold soon. Did I mention how beautiful it is??? I'm sure it was a sad trip to close up the home and know your not coming back I sure understand you wanting to move closer to family, and you'll be getting two new houses so don't be sad. Keep us posted and if I hear of anyone looking in that area I'll sure pass this on. Good luck….
Thanks for hosting you party, I know you've got to be exhausted from your trip…….

  7. Sherry, your beach home is beautiful. You've hit on the one place on earth I enjoy the most…the gulf of Mexico and if I had an extra 500K I'd be on my way to your house with a check. Hope you find a buyer quickly, I'm sure you will with that piece of property and a great price.

  8. Hi Sherry! Oh, my goodness, what a wonderful place! It's gorgeous! I know you'll find someone to buy this beautiful place! Thanks for hosting this wonderful party and I'm partying with you today!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  9. Thanks for sharing your beautiful beach house. It's unbelievable what's happened to real estate the last few years. I wish I could say "where do I sign." I love the wash stand made out of the old dresser and the sand looks more like snow. Thanks for hosting.

  10. wow, Sherry. I can't even imagine having a 2nd home like this…or even a FIRST. :)) Very beautiful and I am sure it will sell fast.
    Thanks so much for hosting..

  11. Sherry, what a gorgeous home and location! I hope someone sees your post and puts in an offer! I wish it could be me! And where did you get the natural grass chairs with the denim cushions, I love them!

    Kat 🙂

  12. Sherry, your beach home in Florida is incredibly beautiful. I am hoping to have a "snow bird" house in Florida someday when both my kids have left my nest. Looks like you had some good memories from that house and now it is time to move onto where family is a bit closer. Best wishes in the sale of this house. Diane

  13. Sherry-What a gorgeous place! It is so hard to see what has become of property values. We have seen a huge loss here too. I hope that it sells quickly for you and that you can find something you like in Orlando. God bless- xo Diana

  14. Hi Sherry,
What a charming, charming beach house. I absolutely love everything about it. In taking the tour, I am positive it will sell fast, it's beautiful. The views are breathtaking. Sending you some sell speedy fast (((Vibes))).

    Thanks for hosting! XO ~Liz

  15. Your Florida home is gorgeous, Sherry! Don't ya just LOVE the beach? We visit Clearwater quite often, and your pictures remind me of there. The white sand in your toes.. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  16. Sherry, This is fabulous! I know it's hard to part with and completely understand hyperventilating over the price. We built our new home without selling our other home first and it has been on the Market for far less than it's worth and still has not sold. We are sick about it…but not in our hands. Great catching up with you. Mona

  17. What a fabulous home!!!!!! And the beach totally dreamy……has me wishing I was at the beach right this minute. Nothing like throwing open the windows of a beach house and letting the breezes come through and hearing the roar of the ocean, pure magic! Thanks for sharing!

  18. Such a beautiful home, I am sure you will have no problem selling. Your decorating taste is perfection. Good luck. Thank you for hosting today also!

  19. I am very familiar with the area, Sherry. My FIL lives in pensacola and we go there a lot and we like going to Destin also. Your beach house is beautiful. Did it exist when the area was hit by a hurrican and few years ago? Good luck in selling it!…Christine

  20. It is gorgeous, Sherry! I live at the beach, but I would love to get off LI in February!
Good luck with the sale, I hope you find something great in Orlando!
    Thanks for hosting!

  21. Beautiful beautiful house! It is must be heartbreaking to sell at such a reduced price for such a gorgeous house…. and so lovingly decorated. I hope it will sell quickly given the awesome view and location…. sending you positive thoughts. And I wanted to mention that Steve did an absolutely wonderful job on that potting bench and chair…I'm totally in love with them. The decor and colors in your house is so vibrant and striking and oh so perfect for a beach house. I pray for a quick sale Sherry. Thanks for having us.~Poppy

  22. Such a beautiful beach house! We took a hit when we sold our house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida three years ago (and I know it has gotten even worse). It's good that it is behind us now and I know it will be for you also. Best wishes.

  23. Sherry, your vacation house is absolutely lovely and I'm certain y'all must have had a wonderful time while you were at the shore. Heavenly! And thank you for hosting this very fashionable linky party 🙂

  24. Your beach house is just gorgeous Sherry! The market may be tough but if anything could sell, it would be that lovely vacation home. 🙂 Thanks so much for hosting this week!
    Vanessa

  25. Sherry, your home is lovely and will make some lucky buyer very happy! Good luck with the sale and your dreams to be closer to family. 🙂

  26. Sherry I LOVE your beach cottage!! If we knew we were not moving next year I would so be trying to figure out how we could purchase your home! After this years nightmare of renting , a home of our own would be a dream come true!! We talk about it every year since it is our family tradition to vacation down that way.
Good luck with the sale and heres hoping somebody in blogland falls in love can purchase your home so you can move on!

  27. Hi Sherry,
I'm not back in party mode yet, but I had to come over and see your feature house. It makes me swallow hard to read what the economy has done to the value of your beautiful beach house. Someone will be getting an incredible deal. And you're right – you will get bigger and better in Orlando.
    Rhonda

  28. What a beautiful beach house! You have such wonderful taste and decorating skills. There is no way this beauty will stay on the market for long.

  29. Unfortunately I cannot take this great beach house off your hands, but someone will — I am sure of it.

That area is gorgeous — several years ago, we considered retiring there.

  30. Hey Sherry, I am probably the only person in the world who hopes you don't sell soon but you know why. I would lose my hunting buddy. 🙂 Your beach house is a beauty and decorated with your exquisite taste. My brother loves Destin and I will show him this but like everyone else his business was hit hard by the failing economy. But he can drool! 🙂 I am ready to go when you are. Email….xo

  31. Such a pretty home – the beach is gorgeous. What an opportunity for someone. I'll keep my ears open – can't imagine it will take too long to sell.

  32. Hi Sherry! I'm a little late coming to the party but I'm here and always thank you for being the most gracious hostess.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  33. Well, Sherry, I've totally lost it! I had already hooked up to your party and did it again with a different post! If you want to delete me you can! I think I need some sugar! 🙂
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  34. Sherry ~ your beach house is lovely, the views are amazing, only to be beat by the price!! I am sure someone will snap up that bargain soon. Best of luck to you.

  35. OMG what a gorgeous area! That is more than a beach house, it looks like a slice of heaven. I have been to Destin and it is a gorgeous area. This must break your heart…Oh what we do for the love of our kids!

    Carol

  36. Good luck selling the house Sherry. It is really gorgeous! Navarre is a great area and a bit less touristy then Destin. We bought our home in Niceville just 2 years ago and I think it's worth less now also. I try not to think about it! Someone will get a great deal. It's so pretty!

  37. Sherry…..oh do I wish that I had the money….your beach house would be sold. We have been visiting the Gulf coast beaches since 06 and our dream is to buy here…..We are even adding more trips each year because we love it so much. we go to the Cape Sam blas/St. Joe Beach area, but went to your area for the first time this June on our way to Cape San Blas from Mobile…..Navarre was beautiful…Destin….too busy for us……In fact we our returning in October and considered going to this area since there will be fewer crowds…thanks for the ideas for shopping…we will be driving in October and I will have some extra room to shop….

I will start playing the lotto tomorrow and cross my fingers and toes….the beach house is beautiful…..I so wish I could buy it……

  38. I like the entire architectural designs of the house and the interior piece was great. I was amazed with the colorful chairs and I am imagining my self sitting there. The kitchen was very neat and I love them all. Keep posting and God bless
